After the serious incidents of criminal acts in Chloraka, the noose is tightening around all those involved in illegal activities, local and foreign, in the low area of Paphos.
Since Wednesday night, police have been making their presence more than felt in areas outside Chloraka, which are well known to gradually turn into ghettos for irregular migrants, but also for the brains behind criminal acts, such as burglaries and thefts and drug trafficking.
In this context, a very strong police force occupied Emba, after Chloraka, that night and today. Dozens of police vehicles and motorcycles, with extensive manpower, create an unusual image on Emba Avenue and the passage to Tremithousa on the side of Emba.
Giving a clear signal for the change of circumstances and for the consolidation of a sense of security and law, the numerous police force carries out preventive checks of passers-by, vehicle checks and motorized patrols in various areas in Emba, Tremithousa and Chloraka. As part of these checks on Wednesday evening, seven drivers were identified and reported in whose vehicles aggressive instruments were detected or tested positive for narcotics.
It is the first time that the Police deploy such strong forces in the northernmost areas of Chloraka and this is done since after the start of the operation to restore legality in the latter, it is estimated that hundreds of irregular foreigners and other people with criminal activity have been relocated to Emba and Tremithousa, in order to evade the scope of the authorities.
Meanwhile, the case of the kidnapping of a national guard by Syrians seems not to have been fake news as initially leaked by the competent authorities. Instead, police arrested a 22-year-old Syrian man on Wednesday night in connection with the case. He is essentially the person who shared the case by posting photos and information, while the police are looking for two more Syrians who took part in the kidnapping and alleged beating of the national guard, who did not file a complaint due to fear.
At the same time, police released the photos of 13 other suspects for involvement in Sunday's serious incidents in Chloraka. These are people who are in addition to the six people whose photos were released in the previous days.
