A meeting under the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, will be held today in relation to the situation in Chloraka, and especially after recent events, with the aim of taking immediate and decisive decisions on the issue, according to a competent source.
At the meeting, which will be attended by the Ministers of Interior and Justice and Public Order, the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare and the Chief of Police, the President of the Republic will discuss finding an immediate and definitive solution to the chronic issue in the community, evacuating the building complex and will make it clear that phenomena that endanger public safety will not be accepted. The government is determined to take all relevant legal decisions, immediately and decisively. "It is clear that we cannot let this situation continue. There are no options other than evacuating the building," says Chlorakas Community President Nikolas Liasidis.
Without windows, doors, water and electricity, and with all electrical installations dismantled in all 250 apartments, with all kinds of dirt everywhere, it is clear that there are serious risks to public health and safety.
"The only option for the very safety of the squatters is to move them out of the complex and the compound to be guarded. They should be transferred. If they do not wish to find a home on their own, to be transferred to closed structures," Liasidis said.
The president of the community council, Chlorakas, has not been invited to the meeting at the Presidential Palace.
