An authentic folk craftsman of stone and wood has been creating in Tala for half a century. In fact, Vrasidas Neophytou has the ability to take raw material from nature, which with his own touches is transformed into works of folk art.
"I do them because I like them," says Vrasidas Neophytou, who serves in his own way the old folk art, which he says is something he inherited from his grandfather and father. "I've been involved since I was a kid, because both my grandfather and my father were involved in these things, it was something I liked." The works of Neophytos were placed, mainly abstract animal figures / sculptures and birds of various kinds, in the museum he created, exhibition space in Tala.
Whatever nature generates, Vrasidas Neophytou takes and transforms it into a work of art, "all the materials I use are from nature". Wood, stone, roots and tree trunks, but also shells, feathers, colored pumpkins, who says: "I see a wood and immediately think how I could make a bird, or it looks like a fish... someone else will see it as firewood... and he will throw it into the fire..."
There is nothing that triggers Mr. Neophytou's inspiration, "she comes alone, I can take a walk in nature and see a log, a stone, and immediately decide what I want to make."
