Two people aged 30 and 21, who were arrested and detained last week in a number of cases, were indicted yesterday before the Pafos Assize Court.

According to the Spokesperson of the Police Department, Michalis Nikolaou, the two are being investigated in particular for the offences of arson of a vehicle, two vehicle thefts, three burglaries and thefts of premises, illegal possession of property and possession of burglary tools during the night.

The two appeared yesterday before the Pafos District Court and after being charged were brought before the Assize Court that will meet in Paphos on September 13.

Police arrested a 20-year-old man yesterday as part of an investigation into two cases of burglary and theft and extortion of money by false representations.

The 20-year-old is allegedly involved in two cases of residential burglary and theft, committed between the dates 01/06/2023-01/07/2023 in the area of Morfou.

According to the first complaint, the sum of  €1600 was stolen from the house, while according to the second complaint, a sum of money amounting to €120 and a credit card were stolen, through which various amounts of cash amounting to €2500 were withdrawn.

The 20-year-old was arrested yesterday afternoon under a court arrest warrant, while a noxious gas evacuator and a pair of wooden handles were found in his possession and taken as evidence.

Police

The Police arrested a 23-year-old man yesterday, to facilitate investigations related to a case of bicycle theft and illegal possession of property. The 23-year-old was arrested for an unprovoked crime, after a stolen bicycle was found in his possession, which he was allegedly trying to sell. The complaint about the theft of the bicycle, to the Police, was made yesterday at noon by a resident of Nicosia. According to the complainant, his bike was stolen by an unknown person at around 11.15pm. of July 9, 2023, while this was in the yard of his house. The complainant then found his bike for sale on an online shopping site. From the Police examinations, testimony was obtained against a 23-year-old man, who was spotted yesterday by members of the Police in an area in Nicosia. He had a bicycle in his possession, which was identified by the complainant as his stolen bicycle. Therefore, the 23-year-old was arrested for the self-inflicted offense of illegal possession of property and was taken into custody to facilitate investigations. The Nicosia Central Police Station is investigating the case.
