In the context of the modernization of the operation and management system of Municipal Parking Spaces in the city of Pafos with the aim of serving citizens and visitors, the Municipality of Pafos will implement as of next Monday, July 24, the provision of the legislation on free parking of electric vehicles, while wanting to contribute to the national effort to reduce pollutant emissions from vehicles.
Specifically, according to the provisions of article 88 of the Municipalities Law, the measure concerns the parking of an electric vehicle or a vehicle powered by an electric engine in a Municipal Parking Area in which the parking of vehicles is not controlled by a mechanism or other control system of entry and exit of the vehicle. It is clarified that the measure also applies to on-street parking spaces.
Based on an application submitted electronically by the owner of the electric vehicle or the vehicle powered by an electric engine, the Municipality will issue a free parking card for this vehicle, which will be valid for nationwide use and which must be placed in a visible position on the top of the windscreen of the vehicle.
Owners of an electric vehicle or a vehicle powered by an electric motorcycle, who reside permanently in the municipal area of Pafos, are invited to fill in the relevant application form located on the website of the Municipality of Pafos www.pafos.org.cy and submit it electronically along with the registration certificate of their vehicle.
