On the occasion of yesterday's drowning of an Egyptian in Petra tou Romiou, the Pafos Lifeguard Club "Kiniras" brings back the issue of covering the beach with a lifeguard.
"We have stressed it many times to the officials, that the beach of Petra tou Romiou needs a Lifeguard point – with full-time Lifeguards, as hundreds of tourists visit the spot all year round." The group also complains that some swim and others climb the rock.
"If there was a lifeguard with the right equipment, the man would get his chance to be rescued. Unfortunately decisions are made by people sitting at their desks with no idea what the sea means."
