The fire continues to be in progress in the area of Yiolou which allegedly approached the animal shelter "Stray Heaven", which was protected, according to a tweet by the spokesman of the Cyprus Fire Brigade, Andreas Kettis.
Earlier, volunteers appealed for anyone who could get to the animal shelter location immediately to do so to evacuate the shelter and protect the animals.
In the meantime, air and ground forces have been activated in the effort to extinguish the fire, but two of the five aerial means were released to help extinguish the fire between Peristerona and Astromeritis.
In Yiolou, the fire burns dry grass and wild vegetation in an inaccessible area.
The fire has remained on a front on which ground forces are operating to fully control it, Kettis said.
Its causes will be investigated at a later stage.
