Around 10:30 p.m. yesterday, members of the Police (group "Z") stopped for a check a vehicle driven by a 42-year-old man with a 26-year-old passenger, in Paphos.
In a subsequent search, three knives, a bag containing a tablet case, two pairs of binoculars, sunglasses, a mobile phone, a wallet and two car keys were found inside the vehicle.
From further tests carried out, it was found that the above car was driven by the 42-year-old without a safety certificate, without a driving license and without a certificate of suitability. Also, the 42-year-old underwent a preliminary drug test with a positive result. The two suspects were arrested and taken into custody to facilitate investigations. The TAE and the Paphos Traffic Police are continuing the examinations.* * * * * *

Five shots were fired in the early hours of Friday morning at the residence of a “well known lawyer” in Engomi, Nicosia.
No injuries were reported from the incident, and it is understood that Nicosia police remain at the scene as they investigate the shooting.
Police are now scouring CCTV footage for any further details.
A high-powered motorbike was seen leaving the scene at about 1am, when the shooting took place, according to information reported by Cyprus Times.
Photos published by local media showed bullet holes in the gate of the residence.

Police arrested a 30-year-old man from the Paphos district as he is suspected of a fire.
Specifically, in two cases, at 22:00 last night and at 02:45 in the morning, fires broke out in two different areas of the village of Fyti, which were extinguished by members of the P.Y., Thira, the Department of Forests and citizens.
The two fires burned 4 decares with grass and wild vegetation.
