A case of night burglary of a residence and theft is being investigated by the Paphos Police. According to the Spokesperson of the Pafos Police Authority and Head of the Pafos ICF, Michalis Nicolaou, on 15.7.23 at 18:00 a 27-year-old man reported that on the same day his residence was allegedly burglarized while he was sleeping in it.

Mr. Nicolaou noted that according to the complainant, the perpetrators breached a window. From the residence, the perpetrators stole property worth €4,820, including mobile phones, cash and a laptop.

Examinations conducted by the police obtained testimony implicating a 23-year-old man against whom an arrest warrant has been issued and is wanted. Mr. Nicolaou noted that from searches made in the area, the Police found part of stolen property, which was identified by its owner.

Investigations into the case are ongoing.

A Bulgarian man who has been arrested and detained in connection with burglary and theft was in possession of a large quantity of stolen goods.

In the afternoon, a search was carried out at a warehouse he rents in Chloraka, in which a large quantity of tools, building materials and other items believed to be stolen were found.

A serious incident took place last night in Geroskipou when a 25-year-old Bulgarian attacked police officers who had arrested his 50-year-old father.   

A police patrol was called to intervene when in a district of the municipality the 50-year-old in an apparent state of intoxication caused concern at 9 p.m. by cursing and shouting.

As soon as the police rushed to the scene and informed the Bulgarian that he would be arrested, his 25-year-old son appeared and attacked and insulted the police officers by beating them, in an attempt to prevent them from transferring his father to the detention centre.

Eventually father and son were both arrested and taken to detention.

Two Romanian residents of Paphos were arrested last night in Paphos. They are suspected of burglaries of villas and apartments in the area of Pegeia recently.

Today, searches will be carried out in the premises where they live in order to locate the stolen property that has been reported by the tenants to have been stolen by the burglars.

Around 10 yesterday morning, a speedboat carrying 11 irregular migrants was intercepted by the Port and Maritime Police at a distance of 7 nautical miles southeast of Cape Greco.

Due to the immobilization of their boat, the above persons boarded the Police Boat, while the boat they were on was towed.

After they were safely transferred to Paralimni Fishing Shelter and as part of the examinations, a testimony emerged against a 24-year-old person who brought him to be the boat's navigator and he was arrested.

The rest of the persons were transferred to the Temporary Accommodation Centre in Pournara.

The ICF of Famagusta continues the examinations.

Police in Famagusta district made three arrests overnight to facilitate investigations into cases of illegal possession and supply of nitrous oxide (laughing gas).

They are a 50-year-old, 18-year-old and 19-year-old who are allegedly involved in three separate cases of possession and sale of nitrous oxide.

Specifically, around 12.30 a.m. Today, members of the Famagusta OPE, who were on patrol in Ayia Napa, stopped for inspection a 19-year-old, in whose possession they found a used and an unused ampoule of nitrous oxide, a device for using the ampoules and eight balloons.

A little later, around 2 a.m., members of the Police, on a street in Ayia Napa, stopped an 18-year-old for checking. During the search, seven ampoules of nitrous oxide were found in his possession and confiscated.

Finally, around 3 a.m., members of the Police, during a search of a premises in Ayia Napa, found a 50-year-old woman, who was in possession of 47 unused and two used ampoules and three plastic cannons.

All three of the above persons were arrested for flagrant offences. They were taken to a Police Station where, after being charged in writing, they were released to be summoned before a Court.

Ayia Napa Police Station is investigating the case.
