Pegeia will have the largest coastal pedestrian street in Cyprus within 2023, enriching in this way its tourist product, as well as the points of interest and recreation or sports for its many visitors and residents. Already, the procedures for the creation of the project are progressing rapidly.

According to the Mayor of Pegeia, Marinos Lambrou, the coastal pedestrian street of Pegeia is an urban project costing €2.5 million. The first phase of the project, he said, will be two kilometers long and will be part of the wider coastal pedestrian street that starts from the Marina area of Potima and will end at the port of Agios Georgios in Peyia, covering a total distance of 14 kilometers.

In the first phase, he noted, the construction of an amphitheater, an outdoor gym, a basketball court, a kiosk and a playground is planned.  This is a very important project that will upgrade the Municipality of Pegeia. The completion of the project is estimated in 18 months.

The Mayor of Pegeia also mentioned that the Municipality of Pegeia has been proceeding for some time with the reconstruction of the central Michalaki Avenue Kyprianou of the Municipality, which will give a modern image and function to the central fabric of Pegeia. The Contract for the Improvement and Reconstruction of Kyprianou Michalaki Avenue was signed with Maria Charalambidou, on behalf of the Contractor Company "Charalambides S. Petros and Bros Ltd".

The total amount of the Contract amounts to approximately €4,000,000 and the execution time of the project is 18 months. The improvement of the avenue was one of the main priorities of both the Mayor and the City Council and after five years of persistent efforts, determination and intense representations to all competent authorities and services, it was possible to promote and implement it.
