MAJOR ROAD WORKS

 


On the Nicosia – Limassol highway (A1), from Kalispera lights to the Pentaschinos river, from 28/02/2023 and for a period of six months, from Monday to Thursday, between the hours of 09:30 – 13:30, works will be carried out removal, transfer and repositioning of signs on the highway, in the direction of Limassol. During the execution of the works, the left traffic lane on the highway, in the direction of Limassol, will be closed for approximately 100 meters and the traffic will be diverted to the right traffic lane.

On the Limassol-Nicosia highway from the Moni exit to the Skarinos exit and on the Limassol-Paphos highway, from the New Hospital junction to the Erimi exit, in the period 29/5/2023 – 16/6/2023, between the hours of 09:00 -14:00 every day except the weekend, work will be carried out to replace the safety parapets. During the works, it will be partially closed for a length of 200m. approximately one lane and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.

On the Paphos - Limassol highway, in the period 8/5/2023 - 15/6/2023, from 20:00 at night until 05:30 the next day, every day except Fridays, weekends and holidays, road surface maintenance works will be carried out and in both directions. During the works, traffic will be diverted from adjacent exits.

On the Paphos – Limassol highway, pruning of the trees and bushes of the central island will be carried out by the Forestry Department, in the period 11/5/2023 – 19/6/2023, between the hours of 08:00 – 17:00, in the section from the exit to Kourris Dam up to Petra tou Romiou. During the works, the right traffic lane will be partially closed in both directions for a length of 1500m. and traffic will be diverted to the left lane.

On a section of the Skarinos - Lefkara road, after the junction of Kato Lefkara to Lefkara on Wednesday 14/6/2023 and Thursday 15/6/2023, between the hours of 07:00 - 15:00, periodic maintenance works will be carried out road surface. During the execution of the works, one traffic lane of the Skarinos-Lefkara road will be partially closed (100 meters each way) and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent traffic lane.

In a section of the old Limassol - Nicosia road, in Kofinou, for approximately 1.5 km until its connection with the exit of the Limassol - Nicosia highway, from 16/06/2023 to 19/06/2023, excluding Saturdays and Sundays, between 07:00 – 15:00, periodic road maintenance works will be carried out. During the execution of the works, one traffic lane of the Skarinos - Lefkara road will be partially closed and traffic will be diverted to an adjacent traffic lane.

In the province of Larnaca, on the motorways Larnaca Airport-Rizoelia roundabout up to the Nisos area, in the period 15/05/2023 – 07/07/2023, every day except weekends and public holidays, between the hours 08:30 – 15:30, pruning of the plants in the central islands of the highways, by the Department of Forestry. During the works, the lane adjacent to the central island will be closed in both directions and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.

Works by the Forestry Department will also be carried out on the motorways Larnaca Airport-Rizoelia roundabout and Kalos Chorio-Kofinos roundabout, in the period 15/05/2023 – 07/07/2023, every day except weekends and public holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:30, for pruning the plants on the slopes of the highways. During the works, the left lane of the motorways adjacent to the works will be closed in both directions and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.

Horizontal pavement marking works on cycle paths in the lower streets of Nicosia will be carried out from Wednesday 31/5/2023 and for a period of four weeks, from 07:00 in the morning until 17:00 in the afternoon.

In Lakatamia, works will be carried out on Tseriou Avenue and Strovolou Street, from Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue to Pefkou Street, from Friday 12/5/2023 and for a period of 20 months, as part of the improvement/construction of Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos and Section of Tseriou Avenue and Strovolou Street. At the same time, during the same period, as part of the reconstruction of Hippocrates Avenue, Themistokleous Street and Areos Avenue will be closed from their junction with Themistokleous Street to Nikai Street and Kentaurou Street respectively.

In Kaimakli, Nicosia, the Nicosia Sewerage Council has completed Phase B works on a section of Markou Botsari Street. The works of Phase III, which concern the section of Markou Botsari Street from its junction with Yannis Koromia Street to its junction with Michalaki Kousoulidis Street, will begin on Friday, June 9, 2023 and will be completed on Monday, June 19, 2023 During the works, this section will remain closed to traffic.

In the province of Nicosia, at the Tseri bypass (Halepiano road), from Saturday May 6, 2023, from 7.00 in the morning and for a period of six (6) months, works will be carried out at the junction with the road under construction that will join the Perimetriko Motorway. The traffic lanes will be moved slightly south for a period of 3 months and then further north for another 3 months.

Within the framework of the "Road within Tseri" Project, in the period 24/4/2023 - 4/8/2023, the fourth phase of the works is to be implemented. Specifically, a section of Strovolou Street will be closed from its junction with Agios Georgiou Street to its junction with Pentelis Street. During the above phase, drivers heading to and from Nicosia are requested to use Agios Georgios, Agia Sofia, Markos Drakos, Pentelis streets and the section of Strovolou Street, which will remain open to traffic. For the above traffic detour there will be appropriate temporary markings, which drivers are encouraged to follow.

In Tseri, Nicosia province, from September 1, 2022, works will be carried out on the Road within Tseri, which will last 78 weeks and is expected to be completed by February 28, 2024. Works will be carried out within the Municipality of Tseri to upgrade the main road that passes through the Municipality. More specifically, the works will include the construction of a two-lane road (with additional clockwise lanes at the traffic lights) within the Municipality of Tseri for a length of approximately 2.5 kilometers. It also includes the construction of sections of bypass roads (K. Misiaulis, Salaminas, T. Anthia, S. Papalazarou, etc.), in a total area of approximately 600 meters, which contribute to the main road. In the project, a small roundabout will be built connecting Strovolos and Agios Georgios streets at its northern end. Along the road, parking spaces will be created on both sides to serve the commercial areas of the Municipality as well as the two Primary Schools included in the project. The project also includes the construction of sidewalks, the installation of traffic lights, the undergrounding of all utilities, horizontal and vertical signage, the installation of new street lighting and other related works. Depending on each phase of the works, the relevant announcements will be issued that will describe the works to be performed as well as the corresponding traffic regulations.

Also within the framework of the "Improvement of the Larnaca - Dekelia Coastal Road, Phase C" Project, the works that started on September 16, 2022, from the Nauticos Club roundabout to the junction to Pyla, will continue to be carried out next to the road boundaries for another three months, until August, 2023.

On the Larnaca - Dekelia coastal road, also as part of the construction works of the "Improvement of the Larnaca - Dekelia Coastal Road Phase C" Project, works will continue to be carried out at a point on the road despite the Larnaca Maritime Club in both directions until September 10, 2023 and traffic will be diverted to Navarinou Street for 650m. about.

Also in the province of Larnaca, on Friday 19/05/2023, the reconstruction works of the Ormidia - Xylofago road will begin, which will last for approximately 12 months, until the end of May 2024. The Project is an improvement of a part of the existing road that connects the community Ormideia with the old Larnaca - Dekelia - Famagusta road. The section of the existing road that is being improved begins immediately after the exit from the residential area (near the junction with Menelaou Ludemi Street) and ends at the junction with the old road Larnaca – Dekelia – Famagusta.

In Larnaca, during the period 1/6/2023 – 4/7/2023, between the hours 08:30 – 16:00, every day except weekends and public holidays, in parts of Limassol, Spyros Kyprianou, Alexandrou Panagoulis, Anexartisia and Giannou Kranidiotis avenues , maintenance work will be carried out on the greenery of the central islets, by the Municipality of Larnaca. During the works, the tangential traffic lane will be partially closed from both directions for a length of 100-200m. approximately, each time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.

In Germasogeia, while the work on the "Improvement of the Bypass Road of Germasogeia, Phase A" Project continues -  in the context of the next phase, in the period 16/3/2023 – 20/6/2023, the following traffic arrangements will apply:

(a) The eastern side of Agia Paraskevi Street from its junction with Patmos Street, to the new roundabout beyond Mylou Street, will be opened to traffic, with two-way traffic. The west side will be closed for construction work.

(b) Part of Patmos Street from its junction with Agia Paraskevi Street to the new temporary small roundabout beyond the "Green Forest" nursery, will operate as a one-way road with a permitted direction towards the new temporary small roundabout. The remaining part of Patmos Street will operate with two-way traffic and turns into a dead end. Vehicle traffic from the Panioti area to Germasogeia will take place via Atreidon Street, the Germasogeia Roundabout, the Limassol Road Bypass, Agia Paraskevi Street and M. Theodorakis Avenue (New Germasogeia Bypass Road). Traffic from Germasogeia to the Panioti area will proceed as normal.

(c) The remaining traffic regulations remain as they are.

The works for the Project "Improvement of the Bypass Road of Germasogeia, Phase A" continue as normal and from Thursday 25/5/2023 work will be carried out on Tellyrias Street. In the period 25/5/2023 – 30/6/2023, in the first phase of the works, the section of Tellyrias Street, from its junction with Agias Paraskevis Street to its junction with Parou Street (approximately 130m long) will is closed to traffic and the following traffic arrangements will apply:

a. Traffic through the junction with Parou Street will be carried out as normal to serve the residents of the area.

b. Traffic from/to Germasogeia will be through the new bypass road and its connections with Agia Paraskevi Street, from the junction before the roundabout past Mylou Street and Patron Street.

c. The rest of the traffic arrangements remain as they are.

It is noted that, at a later stage for the next phase of the works, which will also concern the junction with Parou Street, new traffic arrangements will follow, for which there will be relevant information.

In Paphos, on the Kathika-Prodromi road (Agiou Ypatiou street), at the two points of its junction with Agnoumena street, beyond the village of Druseia, for 3 km. approximately, road works will be carried out in the period 12/1/2023 – 12/6/2023. During the works, access to and from Prodromi will be from Agnoumena Street (via Druseia). 

Also in Paphos, the road Aspro Potamos (borders of the State Forest) - Toxeutras in the Akamas National Forest Park is still closed, due to improvement works on the road network. The public, to avoid inconvenience but also for safety reasons, is invited to avoid using the road in question and to use the roads that lead from the communities of Inia, Arodon and Kathika to the Park. In particular, those who will visit Lara should use the "Inia-Lara" road and those who will visit Avakas the "Pano Arodes-Avakas" road. Land owners, farmers, breeders and other professionals operating in the area can use the "Pegia-Osia Matrona-Avakas" road.

On the Nicosia-Troodos road, from Tuesday 6/6/2023 and for a period of approximately 6 months, as part of the construction of the Astromeritis-Evrycho highway, retaining walls will be carried out along the Nicosia-Troodos highway in the Koutrafa Community, in the Koronia region. Traffic on the Nicosia – Troodos highway will be conducted through a bypass road parallel to the existing road.

Also as part of the construction works of Phase 1 of the Vassilikos Energy Center Road Network, in Mari, from March 23, 2023, construction works will be carried out on the road between the EAC substation and the Vassilikos River in Mari, north of the cement plant facilities sewage system and one lane will be closed to traffic. Traffic will be regulated with traffic lights. The movement of vehicles and pedestrians, on adjacent roads and residences will be done according to the corresponding local arrangements.
