The Pafos Police arrested two persons for obtaining video recordings of private content from a mobile phone and sending them to another mobile phone.

According to the Spokesperson of the Pafos Police Authority and Head of the Pafos ICF, Michalis Nicolaou, on 25.5.23 two women, aged 24 and 26, reported to the Pafos Police that on 24 May a compatriot of theirs, aged 23, sent photos and videos from the 24-year-old's mobile phone to his own mobile phone, without the owner's knowledge, in which personal moments of the two women were recorded.

According to the complaint, the 24-year-old then allegedly sent the above videos to another compatriot, aged 31. The 31-year-old then threatened the 26-year-old to post the videos on social media if she did not have sex with him.

The offences investigated by the Pafos Police include conspiracy to commit a felony, illegal access to an information system, interception of private communication and threatening. Arrest warrants were issued against the two people, aged 24 and 31.

The 31-year-old was arrested on June 1 and then the 24-year-old was arrested on June 4. The two persons are in custody until June 8 for the purpose of investigating the case.

Police are seeking another person to facilitate investigations into the beating of a 25-year-old Turkish Cypriot woman last Saturday in Ayia Napa.

As reported to philenews, the communication officer of the press office of the Police, Eleni Constantinou, for the case the closed circuits of the area are being evaluated, while testimonies have been received for the incident, which are also being evaluated.

Five persons who were found to be staying illegally in the territory of the Republic were arrested by the Police in Paphos as part of an operation to identify illegal immigrants and deportation procedures are already underway.

According to the spokesman of the Paphos Police Directorate, Michalis Nicolaou, the five were found in two apartment complexes in Paphos and after it was established that they were staying illegally in Cyprus, they were arrested and detained.

For all five, deportation procedures are underway, he said.

An attempted burglary and theft at a bakery occurred at dawn in Paphos. Two unknown people who were riding in a double-cab vehicle, possibly stolen, crashed the vehicle into the display case of the bakery located in the district of Anavargos, near the Paphos hospital.

Inside the bakery at that time were employees working on making bread and other baked goods. As soon as the perpetrators became aware of their presence, they reversed and disappeared.

Police are expected to use CCTV footage in the area to identify the perpetrators.

Pafos Police arrested a 53-year-old man for malicious damage, stabbing, and illegal entry to facilitate investigations.

According to the Spokesperson of the Pafos Police Authority and Head of the Pafos ICF, Michalis Nicolaou, on 4.6.23 at 23:30, a 28-year-old and a 30-year-old neighbour in the Geroskipou area reported that on the same day at 23:00, while they were at their residences, they noticed an unknown man entering the courtyards of their residences and with a knife destroyed the car tires owned by the 28-year-old.

It also damaged the tyres of two other vehicles belonging to the 28-year-old's father-in-law, aged 83, as well as a car owned by the 30-year-old. The suspect from the examinations revealed that he came to the place and then fled in a specific car with specific registration numbers. It emerged that the vehicle in which the suspect fled was registered to a 53-year-old man. An arrest warrant has been issued against the owner of the vehicle and he has subsequently been arrested.

The cause of the incident is unknown at this stage, while investigations into the case are ongoing. However, the 53-year-old was subsequently referred for psychiatric treatment.

Five persons were charged in writing and released to be later summoned for unlawful possession and use of a Class B controlled drug and traffic offences.

According to the Spokesperson of the Pafos Police Authority and Head of the Pafos ICF, Michalis Nicolaou, on 3.6.23 members of the Pafos Traffic Police and the MMAD intercepted a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old man and a 25-year-old compatriot as a co-driver.

During the investigation, the 25-year-old was allegedly found in possession of a nylon bag containing cannabis, while the 23-year-old driver was reportedly positive in a narcotest test and was driving without a driver's license and without a safety certificate.

The two persons were charged in writing and released to be summoned later.

Moreover, on 3.6.23 at 23:15 members of the Pafos Crime Prevention Unit were on motorized patrol in Moutalo when they intercepted a vehicle driven by a 29-year-old man and a 29-year-old passenger and a 24-year-old passenger in the back seat.

During the search, a quantity of cannabis was found on the rear seat passenger and he was arrested. Also, Nicolaou said, a small amount of cannabis was found in the possession of the 29-year-old while the driver was positive in a drug test. All were charged in writing and released to be summoned later.
