A group of five or six strangers attacked an employee of a scrap metal collection company and after brutally beating him and tying him up, stole a quantity of metal from the site and disappeared.
The robbery took place early in the morning and was reported to the police a few hours later, when the owner of the business came to the place and found his employee bound hand and foot and bleeding.
He immediately informed the police, while the 30-year-old employee was taken by ambulance to Paphos Hospital, where he was detained for treatment. Speaking to the police, the victim of the robbery reported that 5-6 unknown persons breached the main entrance of the fenced area of the business, attacked him, beat him, tied him up, then stole a quantity of metal and then departed in an unknown direction.
Police are now investigating a case of conspiracy to commit a felony, robbery, assault causing actual bodily harm, malicious damage and theft.
