By June, the new bus terminal will be open at the Karavela parking lot in the centre of Paphos. The operation of the station in the area is expected to stimulate economic activity in the historic city center. Two new transfer stations have also been constructed in the tourist area, while the creation of 196 "smart" bus stops in Paphos and Geroskipou is planned.
In the Karavela parking lot, next to the Markideion theater, in the city center, the local and intercity bus terminal will operate from next month, as well as a taxi rank.
The Pafos local authority believes that the operation of the station in the area will give new impetus to the historic traditional city centre and will connect the tourist areas from Geroskipou to Pegeia with the centre of Paphos.
The mayor of Pafos admitted that there was a few months delay in the completion of the project, which has not yet been completed, since the construction of 196 modern bus stops in the municipal boundaries of Pafos and Geroskipou and the creation of 30 modern public health areas in these areas are still missing.
