On May 18, 2023, candidacies are submitted for the community councils of Kritou Terra and Neo Chorio after their resignation, and on May 28, elections will take place, according to Pafos District Officer Mary Lambrou. The Pafos District Officer confirmed Pafoslive's report.
The members of the community councils of the two villages had resigned in protest against the integration of their communities into the municipality of Polis Chrysochous. They demand the creation of a complex for the villages of Akamas.
The Minister of the Interior, Lambrou said, explained that no differentiation can be made at this time. According to the District Officer of Pafos, one member has remained in Kritou Terra who did not resign, but in Neo Chorio all members of the community council have resigned. There were runners-up in Neo Chorio but they did not accept an appointment, so in consultation with the Ministry of Interior they will proceed, as Lambrou said, to elections on May 28, 2023.
In addition, Lambrou said that she tried to dissuade the resignations because with their resignation, she explained, there were problems in serving the residents, but they have not been convinced.
