Police in Paphos arrested a 52-year-old man for the offenses of causing disorder, drunkenness, disturbing the peace and insulting.

According to the Pafos Police Director, Nikos Tsappis, on Sunday at 20:00 members of the Pafos Police following a complaint visited the community of Emba, where they found a person who was intoxicated and causing concern. A check found him to be a 52-year-old man who was arrested for the offences of causing a disturbance, drunkenness, disturbing the peace and insulting.

The 52-year-old was then taken to the Paphos Central Police Station where he was charged in writing and released to be summoned later.

Under the microscope of the Police, the fierce fight that broke out between patrons of a well-known bar in Ayia Napa, which resulted in the injury of a 20-year-old, was put under the microscope.

According to the police, a complaint has already been filed at the Ayia Napa police station by the person, who is allegedly depicted on video being attacked by a number of other persons.

The police examinations to identify the suspects focus, as the Police say, on what was recorded by the CCTV of the premises, where the incident took place, but also on the testimonies of patrons and staff of the premises.

The injured man was taken to Famagusta General Hospital in Paralimni where it was found that he had abrasions on the face and a hematoma on the back of the head, for which he was sutured and discharged.

According to the testimony of the 20-year-old, the incident took place around 2300 hours on 27/5/2023 under circumstances which are being investigated while he gave a written statement and submitted his complaint to the police yesterday late afternoon.

On two separate occasions last night drunken foreigners provoked and insulted passers-by in the tourist area.

In both cases, members of the Pafos police department who were called to the scene were attacked by drunks who were arrested and detained.
