Two persons were arrested by the ICF of Limassol in connection with a case of conspiracy to murder.

Specifically, the case began after information was given to the police last Friday. Two people aged 56 and 62 from Russia were arrested as suspects.

The examinations and interrogations by the Police have been completed and the case file was forwarded today to the Legal Service for study and final instructions on how to handle it.

The detention of the two suspects ends on Friday.

The police arrested a 41-year-old Greek Cypriot woman from Geroskipou in a case of offences related to the Personal Data Law. According to the spokesperson of the Pafos Police Department, Michalis Nicolaou, the woman in question recently used social networks to expose citizens with various posts.

After her arrest, the Paphos Police spokesman said, the 41-year-old was taken for psychiatric examination, but was deemed not to require any hospitalization.

Following this, she said, she was charged in writing and released to be summoned later.

In the context of data collection and evaluation, as well as the cooperation between YKAN and the Customs Authorities, three parcels containing more than 22 kilos of cannabis were found at a courier company in Larnaka.

During the exams, a 47 year old man presented himself at around 10.50 yesterday morning to the courier company as the recipient.  Specifically, the 47-year-old received two parcels which, after checking, were found to contain 12 nylon packages containing cannabis plant matter, weighing a total of 14 kg and 34 grams.

The 47-year-old was arrested for a flagrant offence while a search conducted at his home in Larnaca found a sum of money and a mobile phone, which were received as evidence. The 47-year-old was then re-arrested on a court warrant and taken into custody.

At around 3.30pm yesterday, a 46-year-old man presented himself as the recipient of the third parcel. After receiving the parcel, it was intercepted by members of the Police and during the inspection that followed, eight nylon packages containing cannabis plant matter with a total weight of 8 kg and 359 grams were found inside the parcel. He was then re-arrested on a court warrant and taken into custody.

The YKAN (Larnaca Unit) continues the examinations.

In the context of collecting and evaluating evidence on the causes of the fire that broke out in the Tochni area of Larnaka, the Police arrested yesterday, on the basis of a court warrant, a 51-year-old person for facilitating interrogations, who was detained.

Specifically, around one o'clock yesterday a report was received about a fire in an area of the village of Tochni in Larnaka. According to the information, works for the construction of metal fencing using power tools were in progress in this area.

From the testimonies in the possession of the Police, it seems that the fire broke out from the use of power tools and immediately afterwards, it spread.

Three helicopters and two firefighting planes attempted to extinguish the fire, as well as a large number of vehicles of the Fire Service, EMAK, as well as small fire trucks from the communities of Vavla, Lagia and Choirokoitia.
