The country's tourism product will be enriched from July, with the opening of the first City of Dreams Mediterranean casino resort in Limassol. In addition, government revenues are expected to increase as more taxes flow into state coffers.
A year and a half late, on July 10 the casino resort officially opens its gates to the public. Construction work began in 2018 and the delay in its completion was due to the coronavirus pandemic and the restrictions imposed.
According to an announcement by Melco Resorts & Entertainment, before the official opening, the resort will open from June 12 for a specific number of guests. It is worth noting that in recent months the casino resort has started accepting bookings as well. The company has already launched an "aggressive campaign" abroad to attract players from all over the world.
It is estimated that the casino is expected to visit the island €300 thousand. additional tourists per year. It is considered one of the largest investments made in Cyprus, costing more than €0.5 billion. City of Dreams Mediterranean, Europe's first multi-theme resort, will be the largest resort in the region.
Opulence and quality
City of Dreams Mediterranean will, according to the announcement, raise modern luxury to even higher levels and will radically change the data in tourism and catering. The 7,500 m² casino grounds include table games, a designated poker area, state-of-the-art slots and live entertainment.
In addition to the open gaming room, which bears the signature of the internationally renowned firm Westar Architects, there will be an additional, upgraded service, the Platinum Club, addressed exclusively to VIP members. In addition, the casino resort has a luxurious 14-storey hotel with 500 rooms and suites. It includes conference and exhibition spaces, covering an area of over 8,000 square meters, which can host events and conferences. Facilities include a majestic ballroom with a capacity of over 1000 people, a multipurpose exhibition space and state-of-the-art conference rooms.
It also includes an open-air Roman-style amphitheatre, an adventure park for the whole family, dining areas and luxury shops. The resort also includes a shopping street with designer shops and will offer a rich entertainment program with guest DJs and renowned shows from around the world.
Gastronomic experiences
City of Dreams Mediterranean also has eight restaurants and bars, which will offer guests unique dining experiences. It will also offer wellness services (spas), which are modelled on the services offered by Morpheus Spa, at City of Dreams Macau, which was awarded as "Spa of the Year" by Forbes Travel Guide 2020.
It should be noted that with the opening of the casino resort, the temporary casino in Limassol will end its operations. Satellite casinos in Nicosia, Paphos and Famagusta will continue to operate normally, while the company will make efforts to find space to house the satellite casino in Larnaca.
