PASYKI will go on a three-hour work stoppage tomorrow, Thursday, April 20, in relation to the understaffing of the Emergency Department of Pafos General Hospital. In a statement, PASYKI said the work stoppage would begin at 09:00 and last until 12:00.
"The time we have been asked to find practical and workable solutions to the very serious understaffing of the Emergency Department of Pafos General Hospital has been granted, but unfortunately the only practical result experienced by the remaining doctors is another resignation of a colleague, and until the exploration of two doctors, we are now looking for at least three, insisting on an unsuccessful pattern of communication. which has unfortunately poisoned and eroded the foundations of public hospitals," the union said in a statement.
It is added that "the imaginative decisions to transfer doctors from other Emergency Departments of Public Hospitals, as well as the particularly dangerous decisions of the Board of Directors of the SHSO in relation to the operation of the Emergency Departments, lack logic from a medical point of view".
Therefore, the Guild states that "because further time credit cannot be granted, because this means co-responsibility, we inform about the reinstatement of the measure of the 3-hour work stoppage, which was suspended".
Finally, it calls on the SHSO Board of Directors to immediately and definitively withdraw the decisions dated 06.04.2023.
