Three minors, aged just 15, were found by the Police to reside illegally in a residence, to be in possession of stolen copper and to be engaged in its processing. The case was revealed after information was given to the ICF Paphos and the Police Department is conducting intensive investigations to clarify all aspects of this strange case.
As stated by the Police Director of Paphos, Nikos Tsapis, after the information received, members of the force went to a specific premises in Paphos in which they found three 15-year-olds who were there illegally.
"In their possession the minors had burglary tools," he said, "as well as copper cables which they processed. All three were summoned to the Paphos Police Department, while the circumstances under which the quantities of copper were found in their possession are being investigated."
The Paphos Police Director also reported that during the night checks of the Police on Saturday night with the aim of combating the phenomena of use of firecrackers and other explosive materials in view of Easter, two other minors, 14 and 16 years old respectively, were found to be in possession of 29 firecrackers. The minors were taken to the Paphos Police Department where they were charged in writing.
"That same night," Mr. Tsapis said, "a car driven by a 22-year-old man was stopped for a traffic check. As it turned out, he did not hold a driver's license and the car was not covered by insurance.
Furthermore, a subsequent search found a quantity of duty-free tobacco products in the vehicle and the 22-year-old was reported out of court by customs."
