Filenews 7 April 2023 - by Natasha Christoforou

A group of 350 tourists from France who arrived in Cyprus to celebrate Jewish Passover owned the €88,400 stolen from a hotel room safe in Larnaca.

Police investigations are moving in a specific direction, after raising suspicions about some people who knew about the existence of the money. The money was taken over by the representative of the mission, who also made the complaint to the Police.

A large amount of money was in €200 and €50 notes and was placed in the safe, with the aim of being distributed in the following days to its holders.

Members of the Oroklini Station and the Larnaca ICF went to the scene and conducted fingerprint examinations.

The tourists had prepared a series of activities for the Jewish Passover, which this year is celebrated from April 5-13.
