The Inspection Service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance, in the context of the effort to combat undeclared work and the control of compliance with the Basic Labor Legislation, informs that, during the month of January 2023, targeted inspections were carried out on a pancyprian basis in Industries / Industrial Areas. - Inspections were carried out on 290 premises, where 259 employers and 31 self-employed persons were identified. The total number of workers identified was 791 (567 men and 224 women). In detail, 566 were Greek Cypriots, 92 citizens of the European Union, 127 foreigners of third countries and 6 Turkish Cypriots.
- 22 undeclared employees and 1 undeclared employer were identified. 15 Notices of Finding of Infringement and 15 Fines of €42,500 were issued.
The purpose of the campaign was to raise awareness among all those employed in these economic activities regarding the consequences of undeclared work and non-compliance with the provisions of the relevant Legislation. It is noted that, according to the provisions of the relevant Legislation, in case of detection of an undeclared person in the Social Insurance Fund, an administrative fine of € 500 is issued multiplied by 7 months, unless it is proved by the employer that the period of violation was shorter. In the event that it turns out that the infringement period was longer, the fine is multiplied by the actual months.
