The strong recovery recorded this year by Cypriot airports, raising expectations for the continuation of a satisfactory flow of tourists, is confirmed by the latest data from the International Airports Council of Europe (ACI EUROPE).

ACI EUROPE reports on January, noting that overall passenger traffic in Europe is approaching its full recovery in its pre-pandemic performance, recording the countries with the best results, which include Cyprus.

According to the agency's data, passenger traffic at EU airports, including England and Switzerland, recorded an increase of 82% in January, compared to the same month last year, with the largest increases recorded at the airports of the United Kingdom (+128%), Ireland (+115%) and Cyprus (+111%).

Furthermore, ACI EUROPE also records the airports that fully recovered compared to January 2019, ie the pre-pandemic levels, which also include our country. Specifically, 11 countries achieved or exceeded a full recovery in January, compared to 2019, with the best performance achieved at the airports of Portugal (+12.8%), Cyprus (+11.2%) and Luxembourg (+9%).

More generally, passenger traffic on the European airport network increased by +69% in January, compared to the same month last year. Compared to pre-pandemic levels (January 2019), passenger traffic in January stood at -11% (recording, however, a significant improvement compared to the previous month -14% in December 2022).
