The police arrested a 21-year-old resident of Limassol yesterday, after he was spotted driving a stolen car on a Limassol street. A small amount of drugs and two knives were also found in his possession.

The car was stolen at dawn yesterday, while it was parked outside a kiosk in Limassol. At around 11pm yesterday, the vehicle in question was spotted moving in the Enaerios area of Limassol. Members of the Police, who were in the area, stopped the vehicle for inspection, during which it was found that the driver was a 21-year-old resident of Limassol.

During a search of the car, small amounts of methamphetamine and cannabis, two knives and the sum of €150 were found and seized as evidence.

The 21-year-old was arrested for flagrant offences and taken into custody to facilitate interrogations.

The ICF Limassol and the YKAN (Limassol District Unit) are investigating the case.

On the occasion of this incident of vehicle theft, the Police reminds and advises car owners / drivers, who are responsible for their vehicles, that they should take care of their safe storage, as well as their keys, in order to prevent access to them and their possible theft.

They are also asked not to leave their car keys exposed in prominent places or in places that anyone can access. They should also ensure that their car keys are kept safely, especially when they are in crowded places, where they are likely to become the object of theft.

Do not leave their car running, even if they will be away even for a very short period of time and never leave the keys in the ignition or door.

Always lock the doors and raise the windows completely, even if the car is parked in front of their house or in another place considered safe.

Always park their car in places where there is enough street lighting. Dark or secluded spots make the work of thieves easier.

A domestic worker from the Philippines who had been wanted by the police since last July was arrested yesterday in Paphos.

The 59-year-old domestic worker, according to a complaint by a British property manager lawyer who lived in Paphos and died last summer, had withdrawn cash using her employer's 9,500-euro credit cards.

According to the complaint, the domestic worker had made 11 withdrawals from automatic teller machines after the death of her British employer.

The Paphos police made three arrests of foreigners in connection with burglaries and thefts last night.

In the first case, a 24-year-old Syrian who was wanted in recent days for two burglaries of kiosks in

the area of Polis Chrysochous was arrested.

In the second case, he was arrested after information in his apartment in the area of Tombs of the Georgian Kings who was staying illegally on the territory of the republic.

Power tools and other items believed to be stolen were found in his apartment. A 37-year-old Bulgarian man in possession of burglary tools was also arrested.

Last night, an Indian who was staying illegally on the territory of the republic was also identified and is expected to be deported.
