A State Grant Scheme for the introduction of an Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) to companies and organizations under public and private law is offered by the Department of Environment of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment.
The deadline for the submission of applications has been set for October 31, 2023.
According to an announcement by the Department, "the scheme concerns the provision of state sponsorship to enterprises and organizations of all economic activities, private, semi-public or even public sector, provided that it carries out an economic activity which is defined in the Grant Scheme that will install an EMAS Environmental Management System, as provided for in Regulation 1221/2009 / EC".
The aim of this plan is "to address the environmental aspects of enterprises/organizations, reduce the use of natural resources and continuously improve their environmental performance".
As the Department of Environment explains, "the project is based on de minimis aid and provides for the subsidy of 70% of the costs for the provision of services for the installation of an Environmental Management System, with a maximum amount of €2,000, and the verification and validation of the system, with a maximum amount of €500, while the same amount, of €500, also finances the Transition Costs from ISO 14001 to EMAS".
Businesses and organisations that apply for EMAS registration no later than the above date are eligible to apply.
