The period for the renewal of vehicle registration certificates for the year 2023 expires on 11 March. As stated by the Department of Road Transport (TFT), registration certificates can be renewed for a period of three, six, nine and twelve months. The registration certificates should be renewed by midnight on Saturday 11 March.
It is noted that for renewals that will take place after Saturday 11.3.2023, the sum of the amount of €10 and an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the marketing authorization corresponding to the amount due for the current year is imposed as a charge.
Marketing authorisations can be renewed throughout the year, online, at banks, kep, district offices of the Department of Postal Services and district offices of TFT.
For the renewal of the marketing authorization there should be: Certificate of suitability and safety, ie MOT certificate. The TFT notes that no notices will be sent to vehicle owners about the renewal of registration certificates.
In addition, it is recalled that those who had renewed the registration of their vehicle for the year 2022 but do not intend to renew it for the year 2023 will have to submit to the TFT a notice of immobilization of the vehicle. Otherwise, the obligation to pay the amount corresponding to the road tax continues to exist.
Vehicles for which their registration has not been renewed for the year 2022 and have not been declared as immobilized will be deleted from the TFT register if the amount due for the year 2022 is not paid and their registration for 2023 is renewed by midnight on Saturday 11.3.2023
