MAJOR ROAD WORKS

 


As part of the construction works of the Project "Improvement of the coastal road Larnaca - Dekelia Phase C", from January 30, 2023 and for the next three months, from the roundabout of the Marine Club to the junction with Pyla, works will be carried out next to the boundaries of road and drivers are urged to use caution.

On the motorways of Larnaca Airport - Rizoelia roundabout and Kalos Chorio - Kofinos roundabout, in the period 23/1/2023 - 13/3/2023, every day except weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30 - 14:30, there will be from the Department of Forestry, pruning and removal of plants on the slopes of the roads. During the works, on the highway from Larnaca Airport to the Rizoelias roundabout (from both directions) and on the Larnaca - Kofinou highway, part of the highway shoulder will be closed, in sections for a length of approximately 100 meters each time.

On the Nicosia-Limassol highway, at the height of the Idalio Industrial Area, in the direction of Limassol, from Saturday, February 18, 2023, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Phase A1 perimeter highway, the third traffic lane adjacent to the central island will be closed for traffic until Saturday 25 February 2023.

On the Nicosia-Limassol highway, in the section from the uneven Agios Athanasios roundabout to the uneven Skarinos interchange, in the direction of Nicosia, from Monday 20/2/2023 to Thursday 23/2/2023, between the hours of 21:00 in the evening and 06:00 in the morning of the following day, periodic road maintenance works will be carried out. During the works, one traffic lane will be partially closed for a length of 1 km. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.

On the Larnaca – Ayia Napa highway, in the period 20/2/2023 – 24/2/2023, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 3.00 p.m., cleaning works will be carried out of the coated ruts on parts of the road. During the works, the road shoulder will be partially closed.

On the Nicosia-Limassol highway, as of September 03, 2022, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Phase AI perimeter highway, the traffic of the highway, which was conducted in 4 traffic lanes on the east side, was shifted to the west side of the existing highway. The traffic of the existing highway from Limassol to Nicosia and vice versa will be carried out in 2 traffic lanes instead of 3 in a length of 2 km. approximately on the west side of the existing highway. The traffic from the exit of the industrial area of Idalio to the Tseri bypass will be uninterrupted, while the traffic from the Tseri bypass to Nicosia via the highway will not be conducted. Traffic from the Tseri bypass to Nicosia will be conducted via the old Nicosia - Limassol road from the JCC light-controlled junction. Traffic from the highway heading towards Limassol to the Idali industrial area will be conducted through the new exit constructed as part of the Perimeter Project, while traffic from the Idali industrial area to the existing highway heading towards Limassol will be uninterrupted. During the works, traffic on the highway from Nicosia to Limassol and vice versa will be conducted in one lane. The traffic from the Tseri bypass to the existing highway in the direction of Nicosia and from the industrial area of Idali to the existing highway in the direction of Limassol will not be carried out at the specified times. It is noted that traffic from the Tseri bypass to Nicosia will be conducted via the old Nicosia - Limassol road from the light-controlled junction near the JCC. The traffic from the industrial area of Idali to the existing highway in the direction of Limassol will be conducted from the entrance of Kotsiatis. It is noted that the above arrangement will last for a period of approximately 5 months. The public can be informed about the above planned works, through the website www.traffic4cyprus.org.cy, which provides a cartographic representation of the works and their effects on traffic during their execution.

In Nicosia, on a section of Markou Botsari Street in Kaimakli, from its junction with Agios Dimitriou Street to its junction with Michalaki Kousoulidi Street, works are being carried out by the Nicosia Sewerage Board. The work began on Thursday, February 16, 2023 and will be completed on Friday, February 24, 2023. During the work, this section will remain closed to traffic.

In the province of Nicosia, on the Nicosia-Troodos road, in the areas of Akaki and Peristerona, in the period 13/2/2023 – 12/5/2023, between the hours of 08:30 - 15:00, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, work will be carried out to replace the metal safety parapets on the Akakiou and Peristerona bridges. During the works, one lane will be closed for sections of approximately 100 metres at a time and traffic will be diverted to the other lane with temporary traffic lights.

Also, as part of the construction works of Phase A of the Road Network of the Vassilikos Energy Centre, in the period 16/1/2023 – 15/3/2023, a section of the road Zygi – Vassiliko – Mari, 450m long. approximately will be closed to traffic for vehicles heading from Port of Vassilikos to Mari, from the fuel storage terminal of the VTTV company to the terminal of the Petrolina company, despite the new roundabout that has been constructed. During the execution of the works, the traffic in the direction of Zygi - Vassiliko - Mari will be served by a bypass road inside the Energy Center. The movement of vehicles and pedestrians on adjacent roads and properties will be done according to the corresponding local arrangements.

In Tseri, Nicosia province, from September 1, 2022, works will be carried out on the Road within Tseri, which will last 78 weeks and is expected to be completed by February 28, 2024. Works will be carried out within the Municipality of Tseri to upgrade the main road that passes through the Municipality. More specifically, the works will include the construction of a two-lane road (with additional clockwise lanes at the traffic lights) within the Municipality of Tseri for a length of approximately 2.5 kilometres. It also includes the construction of sections of bypass roads (K. Misiaulis, Salaminas, T. Anthia, S. Papalazarou, etc.), in a total area of approximately 600 meters, which contribute to the main road. In the project, a small roundabout will be built connecting Strovolos and Agios Georgios streets at its northern end. Along the road, parking spaces will be created on both sides to serve the commercial areas of the Municipality as well as the two Primary Schools included in the project.  The project also includes the construction of sidewalks, the installation of traffic lights, the undergrounding of all utilities, horizontal and vertical signage, the installation of new street lighting and other related works. Depending on each phase of the works, the relevant announcements will be issued that will describe the works to be performed as well as the corresponding traffic regulations.

Also in Tseri, from Tuesday, 03/01/2023 and for a period of two months, on Tseri Avenue of the Municipality of Tseri, in the section from its junction with Evias Street to its junction with Salaminos Street (up to Iero Church of Saints Constantine and Helen), renovation works will be carried out as part of the implementation of the project "Road within Tseri". During this phase, in the aforementioned section, all traffic lanes will be closed. Drivers heading towards Tseri are urged to use Evia, Archiepiskopou Kyprianou, Thermopylon, Pentadaktilo, V. Michaelidis and Salaminos streets. Drivers heading towards Nicosia are urged to use Salaminos, Pentadaktilo, Kouriou, Idaliou, Archiepiskopou Kyprianou and Evia streets following the temporary markings.

On the Larnaca-Dekelia coastal road, at a point opposite the Larnaca Maritime Club and in both directions of the road, in the period 10/2/2023 – 10/6/2023, works will be carried out as part of the construction works of the "Improvement of the Coastal Road" Project Larnaca - Dekelia Phase C". Traffic will be diverted to Navarinou Street for approx 650m.

On the coastal road of Larnaca-Dekeleia, in Larnaca, from the roundabout of the Marine Club and at a length of 800m. approximately, as part of the construction works of the Project "Improvement of the Larnaca - Dekelia Coastal Road Phase C", from 04/10/2022 and for a period of approximately five months, works will be carried out next to the road boundaries and drivers are urged to be careful.

In Limassol, as part of the Great Flood Protection Project of Greater Limassol, until Thursday, March 2, 2023, work will be carried out on Ellis Lambeti, Scarlatti, Rachmaninoff and Richter streets.

In the Municipality of Agios Athanasios, on Sfalaggiotissis Street, from Monday 20 February to Tuesday 7 March, work will be carried out as part of the Great Flood Control Project of Greater Limassol. The section from the passage of Plakas Street to the passage of Alexandrou Papadiamanti Street will be closed to all vehicles and traffic from south to north and vice versa will be through other streets.

Also in Limassol, as part of the Major Flood Protection Project of the Center of Limassol, work will be carried out on N. P. Laniti Street, from its junction with Dodekanisou Street to its junction with G. Sykopetritis Street. The works are expected to last until Monday, March 20, 2023. During the works, this section of N. P. Laniti Street will be closed and the public is invited to be careful and comply with the temporary road markings.

In Germasogeia, the work on the Project "Improvement of the Bypass Road of Germasogeia, Phase A" continues as normal. In the period from 16/2/2023 to 16/5/2023, the following arrangements will apply, in the context of the next phase of the partial execution of the project:

(a) A 100m long section will be delivered, with two-way traffic and as a temporary dead end. approximately Milos Street, east of the new roundabout at the junction of M. Theodorakis Avenue with Agia Paraskevi and Milos Streets.

(b) Construction works will be carried out on the 100m section of Milos Street. approximately west of its junction with Potamias Street which will be closed to traffic. During the works, westbound Potamias Street traffic will be diverted through Apollonia Streets and Mikis Theodorakis Avenue (new bypass road).

(c) The rest of the traffic arrangements remain as they are.

In the district of Limassol, the Arakapa - Sykopetras road will remain closed, from February 22, 2023 until March 31, 2023, around the clock, due to the extension of the execution of improvement works. The public can use the Sykopetras - Agios Konstantinos road.

In Paphos, in the Geroskipou area, from Tuesday, April 5, 2022, until Monday, March 6, 2023, the connecting road B6 - A6 (Limessos - Paphos), will be closed to traffic, due to roundabout construction works on Kinyra Street in Geroskipou. During the works drivers and pedestrians will be able to use a temporary detour that has been constructed for this purpose.

Also in Paphos, on the Kathikas-Prodromi road (Agiou Ypatiou street), at the two points of its junction with Agnoumena street, beyond the village of Drouseia, for 3 km. approximately, road works will be carried out in the period 12/1/2023 – 12/6/2023. During the works, access to and from Prodromi will be from Agnoumena Street (via Drouseia).

In the Vassilikos area, the eastern road connecting the old Nicosia - Limassol road with the Vassilikos port, which was closed since 21/1/2020, will remain closed to the traffic police for another 3 months, until the end of May, at as part of the construction works of Phase 1 of the Road Network of the Vassilikos Energy Center. During the works, traffic from and to Vassiliko will be diverted to the corresponding west road (E107), through Mari. The movement of vehicles and pedestrians, on adjacent roads and residences will be done according to the corresponding local arrangements.

On the old Nicosia-Limassol road, as part of the construction works of Phase 1 of the Road Network of the Vasilikos Energy Center, the eastern road that connects the old Nicosia-Limassol road with the port of Vasilikos, which was closed since 1/21/2020, will remain closed to traffic for another four months, until the end of February, 2023. During the works, all traffic to and from Vassiliko will be diverted to the corresponding westbound road, via Mari. The traffic of vehicles and pedestrians in adjacent streets and residences will be done according to the corresponding local arrangements.
