Two persons were detained for possession of burglary tools and illegal possession of property while a third person is wanted.
According to the Spokesperson of the Paphos ADE and Head of the Paphos ICF Michalis Nikolaou on Friday morning, at 05:10 specifically, a patrol of the Paphos ADE spotted a suspicious car moving in the industrial area of Geroskipou.
The vehicle was stopped and it was found that two men and a woman were on board. The driver then allegedly fled and disappeared while the other two persons, a 23-year-old and a 19-year-old remained in the vehicle. Burglary tools were allegedly found in their possession as well as an electric tool which was suspected to be stolen and illegally possessed. The third person is wanted.
In the meantime, according to Mr. Nikolaou, in a 24-hour period, 61 road complaints were made in Paphos as part of a coordinated operation to prevent road traffic collisions, two of which were for driving under the influence of alcohol and 25 for exceeding the speed limit.

A fifth arrest was made by the Paphos Police in the case of the theft of the bronze statue from a public place in the centre of Paphos.
According to the spokesman of the Paphos Police Department, Michalis Nikolaou, this is a 49-year-old man wanted by the investigating authorities and was located on Thursday night. Already in the case the Police had made four arrests in the previous days. The three arrested, a 55-year-old, a 37-year-old and a 43-year-old, remain in custody, while the 24-year-old who had also been arrested was released on parole.
The case has been fully investigated by the Police, has been registered with the Paphos District Court and the proceedings begin on the 17th.
In a rural area of Tremithousa, the largest part of the bronze statue, consisting of the main torso, head and one hand, had been found last Tuesday, Mr. Nikolaou said, pointing out that in the previous days its other parts had been located, after it was dissected by the persons who allegedly stole it to sell it as metal for €85.

He was arrested this morning at Larnaka airport, a 50-year-old man against whom a European arrest warrant was pending.
The 50-year-old arrived shortly after 9 a.m. when, during his passport control, it was found that a European arrest warrant was pending against him by the Swedish authorities, which concerned his criminal prosecution for fraud in that country.
Tomorrow he is expected to be brought before the Larnaca District Court, for the start of extradition proceedings.
