The Municipality of Paphos is making a "dramatic appeal" to young people and organised groups of football fans to respect public property and the image of the city.
According to a relevant announcement, the Municipality of Paphos has been making huge efforts in recent years to make important works in the city, while it is proceeding with the beautification and maintenance of facades of buildings, parks and other places of public use.
At the same time, the announcement continues, it pays special attention to the removal of any elements that cause visual pollution in order to form an aesthetically upgraded built environment, both for citizens and visitors of our city.
"It is sad and at the same time unacceptable to destroy this beautiful image of the city by writing slogans or all kinds of phrases on walls, parks, toys in the playgrounds or to destroy public property in parks, toilets, etc. by invoking a poorly understood modern culture, which is nothing but a manifestly delinquent and antisocial attitude and behaviour," he added.
He calls on the young people of the city "to realize that they must love their city in practice, love the projects and infrastructure that have been made to serve present and future generations and that they are the ones who enjoy and will enjoy the projects that are implemented".
At the same time, the Municipality of Paphos expresses its readiness to discuss with organized groups, mainly football fans, in order to give them the opportunity to create "beautiful and organized graffiti based on the practice applied in European countries in order to end the current unacceptable situation, which not only degrades our city aesthetically but also reduces the level of its culture".
