1,349 TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS IN PAST FOUR DAYS

A total of 1,349 out-of-court complaints for various traffic offenses, resulted from traffic checks, by members of the Special Motorcyclist Ulamos (E.O.M.O.), the Road Accident Prevention Units (OPOD) of the Headquarters and Avdimou, the Provincial Traffic Police Branches and other members of the Police, on the motorways and on the secondary road network nationwide, during the past four days.

According to the Police, the pancyprian traffic checks were carried out between the hours of 6am on Friday 24/02/23 and 6am today Tuesday 28/02/2023, in the context of preventing road traffic collisions, preventing and suppressing nuisance offences from cars and motorcycles and juvenile delinquency.

The majority of the complaints concerned offences, which are proven to be the main causes of serious and fatal road traffic collisions.

Of these, 738 complaints were made for exceeding the speed limit.

Also worthy of mention are the complaints concerning driving a motor vehicle without a valid registration certificate, which amount to 86, the complaints about violations of traffic signals, offences for which the members of the Police made a total of 68 complaints, as well as the complaints about driving a motor vehicle without a certificate of suitability, which amounted to 42.

In addition, there were 128 complaints concerning non-use of seat belts, non-free driving (use of a mobile phone), parking in disabled parking areas and violation of a traffic light.

In addition, another 99 complaints for driving under the influence of alcohol and another 188 out-of-court complaints for various other traffic offences emerged.

Targeted traffic checks continue daily, around the clock, throughout the road network nationwide.
