Princess Anne will visit the Republic of Cyprus, the Buffer Zone and the British Bases of Dhekelia on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 January.
As stated in a relevant announcement, at the invitation of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force, the Princess will have the opportunity to meet British peacekeepers of the Royal Gurkha Logistics Regiment, of which she exercises command as Colonel, to thank them for their service and contribution to UNFICYP.
The Princess will tour the Buffer Zone and the Commonwealth War Victims Cemetery at Wayne's Keep, where she will lay a wreath at British and Cypriot graves.
She will also attend a reception hosted by the British High Commissioner to Cyprus, Irfan Siddiq, at his residence, where she will meet with friends and UNHCR partners from the UK, Cyprus and the rest of the Commonwealth. In addition, the Princess will also be received by President Nicos Anastasiades at the Presidential Palace.
She will complete her visit to the island at the British Base of Dhekelia, where she will meet with members of the Armed Forces and their families, while inaugurating a new school for the children of the military serving there.
The British High Commissioner said he welcomed the Royal Princess to Cyprus with pleasure, noting that "her visit offers an important opportunity to highlight the strength of the enduring ties between our two countries through our friends and partners – from the President of the Republic to peacekeepers."
