A coordinated operation was carried out by the Paphos Police to prevent traffic offenses, proceeding with 145 traffic complaints in the last three days.
According to the Spokesperson of the Paphos ADE and Head of the Paphos ICF, Michalis Nikolaou, during the last three days, 145 traffic complaints were made, of which 30 concerned speeding, 23 related to driving under the influence of alcohol, and 3 driving under the influence of drugs. In addition, four e-scooter operators were also denounced during the operation because their operators were on the road and not in the special lanes.
Meanwhile, as part of the Police campaign, a 28-year-old man was found driving with alcohol twice the permitted limit in Paphos and as it appeared from further examinations he was staying illegally on the territory of the Republic.
According to the Spokesperson of the Paphos ADE and Head of the Paphos ICF Michalis Nikolaou on January 1, 2023 at 00:50 members of team Z stopped on Apostolou Pavlou Avenue a vehicle driven by a 28-year-old who on further inspection was found not to have a driver's license, nor was covered by insurance, did not have a certificate of suitability of his vehicle and was under the influence of intoxication with 49mg alcohol instead of 22mg which is the permissible limit. The 28-year-old was also found to be staying illegally on the territory of the Republic, arrested and detained.
Also, in the context of combating the phenomenon of noise pollution in the last three days, 9 recreation centres were denounced for broadcasting music without a license.
