COST OF LIVING IN CYPRUS' FOUR LARGEST CITIES, LIMASSOL STILL MOST EXPENSIVE

A survey on the cost of living in Cyprus’ four largest cities – Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos – was carried out by Insider magazine based on updated data provided by Numbeo – the world’s largest cost of living database.

The data shows that coastal Limassol, the island’s second biggest city, remains the most expensive one to live in. And the capital city of Nicosia follows.

Insider’s survey covers data up to the end of December 2022 and records, amongst other, the average prices of the cities’ restaurants, supermarkets, monthly bills, sports and leisure expenses, rent and property purchase.

As well as tuition fees at kindergartens and private schools for a family of four.

Specifically:

Cost of living in Nicosia:

Family of four estimated monthly costs are €2,619.0 without rent.

A single person estimated monthly costs are €741.0 without rent.

Nicosia is 7.7% less expensive than Limassol (without rent).

Rent in Nicosia is, on average, 52.3% lower than in Limassol.

You would need around €3,238.8 in Nicosia to maintain the same standard of life that you can have with  €4,300 in Limassol (assuming you rent in both cities).

Cost of living in Limassol:

Family of four estimated monthly costs are €2,841.4 without rent.

A single person estimated monthly costs are €816.1 without rent.

Limassol is 8.9% more expensive than Nicosia (without rent).

Rent in Limassol is, on average, 109.8% higher than in Nicosia.

Cost of living in Larnaca:

Family of four estimated monthly costs are €2,918.0 without rent.

A single person estimated monthly costs are €831.4 without rent.

Larnaca is 14.3% more expensive than Nicosia (without rent).

Rent in Larnaca is, on average, 30.3% higher than in Nicosia.

Cost of living in Paphos:

Family of four estimated monthly costs are €2,274.0 without rent.

A single person estimated monthly costs are €641.6 without rent.

Paphos is 10.7% less expensive than Nicosia (without rent).

Rent in Paphos is, on average, 8.8% higher than in Nicosia.

At the same time, Consumer Prices in Nicosia are 7.7% lower than in Limassol (without rent)
Consumer Prices Including Rent in Nicosia are 24.7% lower than in Limassol
Rent Prices in Nicosia are 52.3% lower than in Limassol
Restaurant Prices in Nicosia are 10.9% lower than in Limassol
Groceries Prices in Nicosia are 2.9% lower than in Limassol
Local Purchasing Power in Nicosia is 20.7% higher than in Limassol
