One hundred and forty-three complaints were made in the last two days in Paphos, with most of them concerning speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol.
In the context of patrols and controls for the prevention of fatal and serious traffic collisions, the Paphos ADE proceeded to inspections in the areas of Paphos and Pegeia in the last 24 hours and specifically from 06:00 of January 5, 2023 until 06:00 today, January 6, during which 51 traffic complaints arose. According to Paphos Police Director Nikos Tsapis, out of the 51 traffic complaints, 15 involved driving under the influence of alcohol and 3 driving under the influence of drugs. The remaining smaller traffic violations.
Moreover, in another coordinated operation for the prevention of fatal and serious traffic collisions, the Paphos ADE proceeded to checks between the hours of 6:00 on 4 January 2023 until 06:00 on 5 January 2023, in the context of which a total of 92 more complaints emerged, most of them relating to speeding.
According to Paphos Assistant Police Director Michalis Ioannou, 16 drivers were reported for driving with exceeding the speed limit, one driver for driving under the influence of drugs, two drivers for driving without a seat belt, one driver for driving using a mobile phone, two for driving without a driver's license, four for driving without insurance and another 58 traffic complaints for other traffic offences.
Two vehicle seizures were also made. As for the situation of road collisions, there were two road collisions with minor injuries.
It is noted that the coordinated operations of the Paphos Police will continue at a later stage.
