The Police arrested a 21-year-old resident of Larnaca yesterday to facilitate investigations into an ongoing case of illegal possession of drugs for the purpose of supplying another person. In the possession of the 21-year-old, a number of nylon packages containing a total of 105 grams of cannabis were found and seized.
Specifically, around 3.45p.m. Yesterday, members of the Larnaca OPE, who were on patrol, stopped for inspection a car, which was moving on a street in Larnaca, without bearing registration plates. The examinations that followed revealed that the driver of the vehicle was a 21-year-old resident of Larnaca.
In the possession of the 21-year-old, five nylon packages, containing cannabis, totaling 105 grams, as well as a precision scale, were found and seized.
As a result, the 21-year-old was arrested for an offence committed in the act and taken into custody to facilitate interrogations.
YKAN (Larnaca District Unit) is investigating the case.
In the context of investigation and evaluation of evidence, members of the YKAN (Limassol Branch) spotted around 8.30 last night a car moving on the old Larnaca - Limassol road.
An attempt was made to stop this vehicle but the driver, in his attempt to escape, collided with two service vehicles and then came to a standstill.
During an inspection, it was found that the driver was a 23-year-old man from the Limassol district, while a search of the car found six airtight packages containing cannabis with a total weight of 6 kg and 480 grams. The 23-year-old was arrested for an offence.
This was followed by a search of the 23-year-old's home, where another 22-year-old resident also lives. During the investigation, four nylon packages containing a total of 65 grams of cannabis as well as a precision scale were found in the 22-year-old's bedroom.
The 22-year-old was summoned and went to the offices of the YKAN (Limassol Branch) where the 23-year-old was already located and then both were arrested on the basis of court warrants and detained.
The YKAN (Limassol Unit) in cooperation with the Moni Police Station continue the examinations.
