ANOTHER YELLOW WEATHER WARNING

Again yellow warning issued by the Meteorological Service for rains and thunderstorms.

In particular, rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected to affect the region. The intensity of rainfall can range between 55 and 85 mm in 24 hours.

The warning will be in effect from 08:00 this morning until 17:00 in the afternoon.

Weather details:

Low pressure affects the area. Today the weather will be mostly cloudy and occasionally local rains, isolated thunderstorms and snow are expected in the higher mountains. In some areas the phenomena are likely to be prolonged or even intense. Temporarily visibility will be limited due to increased low clouds or fog. The winds will blow initially northeast to southeast and locally in the afternoon southwest, weak to moderate 3 to 4 Beaufort, but transient in the windward, up to strong 5 Beaufort. The sea will be a little turbulent but on the north and east coasts it will be up to turbulent. The temperature will rise to 15 degrees inland, around 17 degrees on the coast and 7 degrees in the higher mountains.

In the evening the weather will remain mostly cloudy and isolated rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected from time to time. In the higher mountains, snow or sleet will fall and visibility is likely to be limited due to increased low clouds or fog. The winds will blow mainly northwest to northeast, weak 3 and transient to moderate 4 Beaufort. The sea will be up a little turbulent. The temperature will drop to 8 degrees inland, around 10 degrees on the coast and 2 degrees in the higher mountains, where locally frost will form.

On Tuesday the weather will be partly cloudy and isolated rains and snow or sleet are likely to fall in some areas and on the highest peaks of Troodos.

On Wednesday and Thursday the weather will be locally partly cloudy.

The temperature will gradually rise to hover just above the climate averages.

The height of the snow on Troodos Square, at the time of issue of the bulletin, was 7 cm.
