3,353 NEW CASES, 8 DEATHS in week to 12 January

Eight deaths due to coronavirus were announced in the last week in Cyprus. At the same time, according to the Ministry of Health in the week of January 6 - 12, 3,353 new cases were detected with the positivity rate amounting to 5.13%.

8 deaths announced

They concern:

  • Woman, aged 71, who passed away on 06/01/2023
  • Man, aged 77, who passed away on 07/01/2023
  • Man, aged 60, who passed away on 08/01/2023
  • Woman, aged 83, who passed away on 10/01/2023
  • Man, aged 62, who passed away on 10/01/2023
  • Man, aged 76, who passed away on 11/01/2023
  • Woman, aged 76, who passed away on 12/01/2023
  • Woman, aged 93, who passed away on 13/01/2023
  • Total number of deaths with COVID-19 as the ultimate cause: 1,270.
  • 85 COVID-19 patients are being treated in shsypy hospitals
  • 14 in serious condition (ICU: 0 off ventilator/7 intubated, MAF: 7)
  • patients who ceased to be infectious continue to be hospitalized by intubation due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic tests:

  • A total of 65,398 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 3,353 new cases were detected (total cases 638,062).
  • Positivity rate in all tests 5,13%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 2,112 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 231 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 10.94%

Total number of rapid antigen tests:

  • 63,286 rapid antigen tests were performed
  • There were 3,122 positive cases
  • Positivity rate 4.93%

Private initiative:

  • 1,495 molecular tests were performed, 105 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 7.02%)
  • 40.974 rapid antigen tests were performed, 2.846 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 6.95%)

Through the programs of the Ministry of Health, 22,312 rapid antigen tests were performed. 276 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 15,704 rapid tests, 206 positive cases identified (positivity rate 1.31%)

Other

  • National Guard: 75 rapid antigen tests performed, no positive cases detected (positivity rate 0%)
  • Nursing homes: 4,807 rapid antigen tests were performed, 67 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 1.39%)
  • Closed facilities: 1,726 rapid antigen tests were performed, new cases were identified (positivity rate 0.17%).
