THE SUITCASES FOUND IN KAILI'S POSSESSION

 Filenews 14 December 2022

A new photo with all the money found during the investigations into the case involving the Eva Kaili was released on Wednesday morning by the Belgian police.

As you will see in the photos, released by the Belgian authorities, there is a suitcase filled with money. This is probably the suitcase, with which Eva Kaili's father was arrested.

The Belgian authorities' post reads: "As part of a file by the Federal Prosecutor's Office on suspected corruption, targeting people active in the European Parliament, the Federal Judicial Police seized almost 1.5 million euros during investigations carried out in the Brussels region."

What the money path reveals

As the authoritative Belgian newspaper L'Echo revealed on Wednesday, the Belgian authorities seized, among other things, unreleased cash, which was still sticky and rubber-stamped, and apparently came from another country since Belgium has stopped printing banknotes.

Thus, once the origin of this cash is traced, it will then be easy to reveal the bank from which the banknotes were withdrawn, hence the bank account and the identity of the person who debited the withdrawal.

In addition, the authorities will be able to analyse the digital fingerprints on the banknotes and contrast them with those of the suspects, whether they are in custody like the former vice-president of the European Parliament Eva Kaili, or released, like her father.

However, as the Belgian publication says, this screening will take several weeks. However, as he characteristically emphasizes in English, the solution is "follow the money", that is, "follow the path of money".

It is recalled that yesterday the Belgian Public Prosecutor's Office released photographs of the findings of last Friday's investigations.

The time of crisis

All this, while there are now a few hours left to find out the fate of Eva Kaili. That is, whether she will be imprisoned until her case is heard or whether she will be released.

It is worth noting that one of the possible scenarios is that of her release, subject to her electronic surveillance with the so-called wristband.

However, until late yesterday it was not known whether the Greek MEP would attend the proceedings or whether she would be represented by her Greek-born lawyer Andre Rizopoulos, who is based in Brussels.

In any case, on Wednesday morning, the lawyer of Eva Kaili's sister, Michalis Dimitrakopoulos, however, told SKAI that he proposed to both the MEP herself and her lawyers in Belgium to request a postponement of the hearing until Tuesday, so that she too would be present (as he said, today there is a strike in Belgium and it is not possible to transfer her to the courthouse).
