A number of convictions against natural and legal persons for illegally practicing the profession of real estate agent were issued by the country's provincial courts during 2022.
The Real Estate Agents Registration Council publishes on its website (https://ktimatomesites.com/legal-cases/), at regular intervals, the names of convicted natural and legal persons.
It is currently proceeding with the publication of the details of legal and natural persons who have been brought to justice and convicted. These are involved in 17 cases, in which six legal entities and 13 natural persons were convicted of illegal real estate.
Five convictions against four natural persons and one legal person concerned offences committed in the Limassol district. Another five convictions, involving three legal and three natural persons, were handed down by the court for offences committed in the district of Paphos.
Three convictions against three natural persons and one legal person relate to offences committed in nicosia district. There are an equal number of convictions in the district of Larnaca, which concern two natural persons and one legal person, while one conviction, for an offence committed in the district of Famagusta, concerns a natural person.
The Real Estate Agents Registration Council notes: "The publication of the names of those convicted of preying on the profession of Real Estate Agent is another very important and decisive step to tackle illegality. We believe that in this way we strengthen the toolbox of measures against illegals, protect citizens, our profession itself, but also the sources of revenue of the State".
