Parents and guardians are invited to present the Vaccination Card or the page of the Health Booklet, in which the vaccines that their children have received are recorded, during the registration process of the children who will attend the new school year (ie September 2023) in the first grade of Primary Schools.
According to a recent circular received by the directorates of public and community kindergartens and primary schools from the Ministry of Education, they must immediately inform the parents and guardians of the children and especially before the registrations that will be held next January (the exact registration period will be announced as soon as possible by the Ministry of Education).
As noted, this is an update received by the Ministry of Education from the Medical Services of the Ministry of Health, according to which children who will attend the first grade of primary schools must have been covered with specific vaccines.
These, as indicated in the information document and which must be done by the age of 5-6 years are the following:
- Diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough.
-Polio.
- Measles, mumps, rubella.
- Hepatitis B.
- Meningococcus C.
- Haemophilus influenzae type b.
- Pneumococcus conjugated.
It is also noted that these instructions will be given both to parents who have children in Kindergartens, as well as to primary school children who have siblings, who will be firsts in the new school year, in order to inform their parents.
As mentioned, during the registration period of January, parents and guardians must provide a copy of the Vaccination Card or the relevant page of the child's Health Booklet, showing the vaccination status and name. It is emphasized that the above must be provided in any case, even if the vaccines were not made.
If they do not provide them during the registration process, then parents will have to present them before the start of the new school year.
In case the parents do not do so, then the Directorates have instructions to inform the Health Visitor of their schools with the beginning of the year next September.
