Members of the Cyprus Association of Educational Advisors (PACE) have been receiving in recent weeks many phone calls from students and parents interested in travelling to the UK for a short visit to apply for the EU Settlement scheme in the hope of gaining "pre-settled status", the Association said in a statement.
"The benefits that are believed to have with the approval of the above scheme are the right to the low tuition fees of British Universities as well as the British Student Loan," it added.
"For your information, the EU Settlement Scheme was created to register EU citizens who wish to continue residing in Britain after 31 December 2020 in order to continue enjoying certain privileges after the country leaves the EU. The PACA wishes to make it clear to all interested parties that the deadline for applications for the EU Citizen Settlement Programme in Britain has expired on 30 June 2021 with the exception of some very specific groups of people who hold the supporting documents as shown in the link below:

Therefore, for the vast majority of students and their parents who do not meet all the criteria set by the British government for the application, there is no reason to travel to the country in order to secure pre-settled status. The PSC is monitoring the matter and will keep the public informed of any developments."
