From early September to mid-November, 16 activists from all corners of Europe participated in the Commission's autumn campaign against bird killing in Cyprus, according to a Commission announcement.

The Committee Against Bird Slaughter teams confirmed and reported to the Cypriot authorities a total of 135 bird trapping sites and 76 poaching incidents, as reported.

According to the announcement, 60 poachers were prosecuted: 44 for bird trapping and 16 for illegal hunting. 1882 limesticks, 87 nets and 128 electromimetic devices were seized. Also, 573 birds were saved and freed from the traps, mostly small birds, but also sycophagus, thupias, arrothous, and even one nightshade.
