The 31-year-old suspect of committing the attempted murder in the early hours of last Sunday in Oroklini, in which a six-year-old child and a 42-year-old man were injured, was detained for eight days.
The suspect, as it was said before the Larnaca District Court, in which draconian security measures were taken, admitted verbally guilty and named as his accomplice a second person who is now wanted. The 31-year-old, according to the Police, was scientifically linked to a visor found at the scene and that is why a warrant was issued for his arrest yesterday.
However, despite the searches at his home in Oroklini, he had not been located and that is why on Wednesday afternoon (7/12) his photo was released. Yesterday afternoon, members of the Police conducted searches of the 31-year-old's home and vehicle, as well as his family home and the premises where he works. According to the Police, during the searches, clothes and various other items were found, which were removed for scientific examinations.
At around 9.45 on Wednesday night, the 31-year-old presented himself at the offices of the Larnaka ICF, where he was arrested and taken into custody. He had initially said that he did not know anything about the case but then asked to speak with a police officer and verbally confessed to committing the attempted murder.
A few metres from the scene, a gun, hood and visor were found, used by the perpetrator of the armed attack, whose alleged target was the 42-year-old, who is related to a person who has several open cases. A black sneaker, believed to belong to the perpetrator, was also found.
