A proposal for the joint organization of the Limassol Marathon, between the contractor of the Limassol Marathon GSO and the contractor of the OPAP Limassol Marathon, is supported by the Gymnastics Association "Olympia" (GSO), awaiting the reaction of the Limassol Municipality and the other stakeholders.
The issue of the organization of the Limassol Marathon, which will take place in March 2023, remains pending, after the Limassol Municipality and GSO disagreed on the selection of the contractor, on the basis of a memorandum of cooperation signed with the LCCI and ETAL.
The Limassol Municipality, considering that unilaterally and without any information, the GSO proceeded to an agreement with the company Investmac Ltd, decided, with the other two bodies of the city, to organize the marathon with the long-time organizing company, DMC – SAS Event Ltd, which has now been renamed to 11 Blue Events.
In an effort to resolve the dispute, which endangers the successful institution to date, the GSO contractor recently proposed that the marathon be jointly organized by the two companies, on the same dates, for the year 2023, so that the official marathon of KOEAS in Limassol remains.
In an extraordinary meeting, the Board of Directors of GSO accepted the proposal of Investmac Ltd and in today's announcement states that it will support it, adding that the company proposes that all net proceeds be donated to charities, GSO athletes, Health Centers and KOEAS.
As a sign of goodwill, he adds, the Association will deposit the full amount of royalties it would receive to this charitable cause.
Finally, the GSO calls on the Mayor and the Municipal Council of Limassol to support in practice the proposal for the joint organization of the Limassol Marathon.
