The contract for the modernization of the online presence of the Republic of Cyprus was signed, through the redesign of the state websites, which will now be accessible through the new digital portal of the state, gov.cy.

The project aims on the one hand to establish a modern and unified image for all state services, and above all, to improve the experience of citizens when browsing public websites. The project was awarded after a tendering process by the It Services Department of the Deputy Ministry in EY Cyprus, at a cost of €1.1 million, while its implementation will be completed in two (2) phases, with the first 65 websites to be developed in 2023.

Specifically, the design or redesign of more than 250 web pages in total is provided for, with modern and user-friendly aesthetics, design and functional approach and interactive applications, based on the highest standards of design, usability, accessibility and security. At the same time, special emphasis is placed on the organization, development and continuous updating of the content of the websites, in order to ensure the quick and easy access of the citizen and other interested parties - such as international organizations and foreign investors - to valid information. To this end, the competent officers from all state agencies will receive relevant training for writing and linguistic editing of content, so that this is simple, understandable, concise, useful and up-to-date.

In his statements, the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Kyriakos Kokkinos, noted that: "This is one of the most important digital transformation projects of the Deputy Ministry, of key importance for the modernization of the state and with a direct impact on the daily life of citizens. With content and functions that will be constantly enriched and upgraded, our goal is that gov.cy is the one and only point of contact with the State as well as a source of valid information and direct service to the citizen. Government websites are a point of reference for the Republic of Cyprus, they are our image at home and abroad. Through our cooperation with EY, but also with all parties involved, I am sure that we will radically upgrade this image, strengthening and giving credibility to our state.

Commenting on the undertaking of the project, George Tziortzis, Head of Consulting Services of EY Cyprus stated: "We are excited to undertake this extremely important and complex project. The redesign of the digital presence of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus will highlight its modern and unified identity and will facilitate citizens and businesses in their daily information and contact with the government. This project promises to improve the lives of all of us and to help build new relationships of cooperation and trust between the state and society. We would like to thank the Cypriot government for the trust in EY Cyprus and its people that is confirmed by the commissioning of this project.
