In the context of strengthening the bilateral cooperation between Cyprus and Israel, and following an existing agreement, a Cooperation Plan in the field of Health and Medicine was signed today in Israel by the Minister of Health of Cyprus, Michalis Hatzipantelas and the Minister of Health of Israel, Nitzan Horowitz.
The Cooperation Plan between Cyprus and Israel underlines their commitment to the joint development and support of the health sector and medical science, with the aim of improving the quality of health services provided in both countries.
Specifically, the Plan provides for cooperation in the fields of emergency preparedness with the transfer of patients, medical personnel and supplies, cooperation in dealing with complex medical procedures and rare diseases and in the prevention of communicable diseases, handling of organ transplants and organ donors, hosting of international conferences, and food safety and environmental health.
Within the framework of the Plan, the two countries will at the same time promote the development of direct cooperation between medical and research institutes of each country. They will also assess the progress of cooperation as underlined in the Memorandum on an annual basis, with a special joint committee to be set up for this purpose.
Following the signing of the Plan, the two Ministers visited the Ihilov Hospital in Tel Aviv.
