Russia "wants to end as soon as possible" the conflict in Ukraine. This statement was made by the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, addressing the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, during their meeting in Uzbekistan.
But continuing, the Russian leader threw the blame on the Ukrainian side, arguing that it is Kiev that wants to continue fighting and that refuses to sit at the negotiating table.
"I know that today is not a time of war, and I talked to you on the phone about it," Modi is said to have said, addressing Putin, underlining the value of democracy, diplomacy and dialogue that keep the world together, as reported.
Putin, for his part, was quoted as saying that he understands Modi's concerns about the war in Ukraine, while a day earlier he had said the same to Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
"I know your position on the conflict in Ukraine and I know your concerns. We want all this to end as soon as possible," the Russian leader said while speaking to the Indian prime minister.
