The project that was in the daily life and in the contacts of the institutions of Peyia for two whole decades, without visible result, is now on track for implementation. The redevelopment of the main avenue of the Municipality, Michalaki Kyprianou and the consequent connection of the central core of Peyia with the tourist area of Coral Bay has been promoted at a rapid pace lately, after the recent signing of the contracts for the construction works.
Already, the Mayor of Peyia stressed, the works at the junction of Michalaki Kyprianou with Akamantos Street have progressed a lot in order to increase safety in the area through the widening that entails the demolition of a building.
"It will be a two-phase project, the first of which will be two kilometres long for €2.5 million, while the second will be €5 million. The cost of the first phase will be paid by the Municipality of Peyia, while the second concerns an urban planning project", said Marinos Lambrou.
The improvement of the main road axis of Peyia, according to the Mayor of Peyia, includes lighting, construction of sidewalks, tree planting and underground cables.
