The inauguration of the new terminal at Tymbou airport will take place on November 15, 2022, the ‘deputy prime minister’ Fikri Ataoglu announced on Sunday.

Ataoglu, who visited the project under construction on Sunday, added that with the new terminal, tourist arrivals will also increase in the new season of 2023, Turkish Cypriot media reported.

Recalling the “very constructive” meeting he had a few days ago in the north with the Turkish Tourism Minister Mehmet Ersoy, Ataoglu said that they have already begun work so that with the completion of the new terminal, more tourists come through Turkey to the north.

According to Ataoglu, 26 smaller planes a month can be served by the existing runway (which is being expanded) because large aircraft cannot be served, but this will change with the new airport.

He also said that electricity and lighting at the new section of the airport will be ready at the end of September.
