FAKE EURO NOTES IN CIRCULATION

The National Banknote Analysis Centre of the Police Forensic Investigation Service draws the public's attention to the circulation of counterfeit banknotes of various denominations (€10, €20, €50 and €100) with specific characteristics.

Two categories of counterfeit banknotes have been observed.

Below is a detailed description of the main signs of falsity.

  1. The "Movie Money" banknotes

Cost: €10 Euro

Front of a banknote

  1. They have printed the inscription "Movie Money" under the flag of Europe. (Point 1)
  2. They have printed the inscription "THIS IS NOT LEGAL TENDER , IT S USED FOR MOTION PROPS" , under the initials of the European Central Bank on the left edge of the note (Point 2).
  3. They have the word "PRΩP" printed between the words "EURO" and "EBRO" in place of the Greek word "EURO" which is missing (Point 3).

Back of a banknote

  1. Bearing the number MB6666888880 (Section 4)
  2. They have printed the inscription "THIS IS NOT LEGAL TENDER , IT S USED FOR MOTION PROPS" on the right edge of the note (Section 5).
  3. They have the word "PRΩP" printed between the words "EURO" and "EBROP" in place of the Greek word "EURO" which is missing (Point 6).

Cost: €20 Euro

Front of a banknote

  1. They have printed the inscription "Movie Money" under the flag of Europe. (Point 1)
  2. They have printed the inscription "THIS IS NOT LEGAL , IT IS TO BE USED FOR MOTION PROPS" , under the initials of the European Central Bank on the left edge of the note (Point 2).
  3. They have the word "PRΩP" printed between the words "EURO" and "EBRO" in place of the Greek word "EURO" which is missing (Point 3).

Back of a banknote

  1. They bear the number MB66688880 (Point 4)
  2. They have printed the inscription "THIS IS NOT LEGAL , IT IS USED FOR MOTION PROPS ONLY" on the right edge of the note (Point 5).
  3. They have the word "PRΩP" printed between the words "EURO" and "EBROP" in place of the Greek word "EURO" which is missing (Point 6).

Cost: €50 Euro

Front view banknote

  1. They have printed the inscription "Movie Money", under the flag of Europe. (Point 1)
  2. They have printed the inscription "THIS IS NOT LEGAL , IT IS TO BE USED FOR MOTION PROPS" , under the initials of the European Central Bank on the left edge of the note (Point 2).
  3. They have the word "PRΩP" printed between the words "EURO" and "EBRO" . The Greek word "EURO" is absent and the Cyrillic "EVRO" is written with "Z" i.e. "EVRO" (Point 3).

Bearing the number MB6666888880 (Section 4)

They have the inscription "THIS IS NOT LEGAL IT IS TO BE USED FOR MOTION PROPS" printed on the right edge of the note (Point 5).

Cost: €100 Euro

Front of a banknote

  1. They have printed the inscription "Movie Money" , under the flag of Europe. (Point 1)
  2. They have printed the inscription "THIS IS NOT LEGAL TENDER , IT S TO BE USED FOR MOTION PROPS " in place of the initials of the European Central Bank on the left edge of the banknote which are missing. (Point 2).
  3. They have the word "PRΩP" printed in place of the Greek word "EURO", the Cyrillic word "EVROS" is absent (Point 3).

Back of a banknote

  1. They bear the number DB666880000 (Point 4)
  2. They have the inscription "THIS IS NOT LEGAL TENDER , IT S USE FOR MOTION PROPS ONLY" printed on the right edge of the note (Point 5).
  3. They have the word "PRΩP" printed in place of the Greek word "EURO", the Cyrillic word "EVROS" is absent (Point 6).

  3. They bear the number UC1366259581 (Section 1).
  4. They have printed the inscription "Prop copy" in blue letters below the number. (Point 2).
  5. In some cases the inscription has been deleted with a tipp-ex correction fluid but it is visible if we look at the note in the light (Point 3).
  6. On some banknotes, with the same number, the words "prop copy" are absent and instead the word "copy" appears in the lower left corner of the banknote in the area of the map. (Point 4).
